Both these tests were artificially carried out on a calm day with the boat being pulled over to capsize. We will re-take this video in the spring.
We have sailed our Deben Lugger in a broad range of conditions up to a force six gusting seven and have found her very manageable and reassuring with no inkling of capsizing.
This first test shows the boat being righted with it's steel centre plate down. Righting was very easy with the plate dipping the water, all that was required was a light push and she self righted.
This second test was carried out with the plate up and required climbing onto the keel to amidships, holding on to the gunwale and leaning back to right. Still an easy operation.
Here you will find some general videos of the Deben Lugger in relatively light winds.
We hope to bring you better footage as and when the conditions, a spare boat and a camera man dictate!
